Lake Travis Independent School District serves over 8,000 students in the area surrounding Lake Travis, including Bee Cave, Briarcliff, Lakeway, and The Hills. Its 118 square miles are generally bordered by the Travis/Hays county line to the south, Lake Travis shore to the north, the Pedernales River to the west, and Barton Creek and Lake Austin to the east. Originally, Lake Travis ISD was part of Dripping Springs ISD but was made into its own district in 1981 after the area’s tremendous growth.
