Overview

Meridian is a relatively new neighborhood of over 800 homes in Southwest Austin, near the popular and large master planned community of Circle C. Established in 2005, new construction is ongoing in the neighborhood, with many homes built in the 2006-2008 period. Homes are on large lots, with a great proportion of them backing up to greenbelt areas and offering outdoor living areas. The neighborhood offers its own amenities, such as a pool and hike and bike trails and a private lake. Its proximity to MoPac and the myriad conveniences in Southwest Austin increase its appeal.

Homes in Meridian are upscale, large, on oversized lots, and include ample natural surroundings. All homes are relatively new, with the first wave of construction in 2005, and some new homes are still available. Brick and stone exteriors are the norm, as are well-maintained, landscaped yards and outdoor living areas.

Location

Meridian is in southwest Austin, where Highway 45 meets FM 1826. It is bordered by FM 1826 to the west, Highway 45 to the north, FM 967 to the south, and Manchaca Road to the east. It is in MLS Map Location SWE and zip code 78739. It is 16 miles from downtown Austin.

Meridian offers numerous onsite amenities. A community center reserved for residents and a covered pavilion with a barbecue grill and picnic areas allow for neighborhood, communal gatherings. A large pool and a playground provide for ample play time. And, hike and bike trails allow for exercise or quiet time. Bear Lake, a ten acre private lake in Meridian, is a centerpiece for the neighborhood.

A short drive from Meridian is the Slaughter Creek Metropolitan Park. With more than 500 acres of green space and areas for soccer, disc golf, basketball, volleyball, and hike and bike trails, the park provides ample recreational opportunities, including the Veloway, a 3.2-mile trail for biking and rollerblading.

Meridian is moments south of Grey Rock Golf Club, a 160 acre, 18-hole golf course, and moments southwest from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildlife Center.

Shopping and Restaurants

Escarpment Village is a short drive from Meridian, along Slaughter and Escarpment, and includes an HEB Grocery, Waterloo Ice House, Satellite Bistro & Bar, Starbucks, Subway, and numerous businesses, such as a day spa, hair salon, animal hospital, and banks.

On the south side of Escarpment is Parkside Village, with an Alamo Drafthouse Theater and bar, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, TCBY, Z’ Pizza, and numerous restaurants and small businesses.

About five minutes away north on MoPac is the Shops at Arbor Trails shopping center with a Costco, Whole Foods, Staples, and many restaurants and stores.
