The Onion Creek neighborhood in southern Austin was established in 1974 and is known for its golf course, tall trees and the creek, spacious lots, and proximity to downtown Austin. It’s bordered by Interstate 35 to the west, East Slaughter Lane to the north, Bradshaw Road to the east, and FM 1327 to the south – giving residents easy access to downtown.

The neighborhood offers a variety of home styles creating a relaxing environment that features large trees, green yards, and a variety of community amenities. From January 2009 to September 2010, sold home prices ranged from $150,000 to $420,000, and sizes ranged from 1,604 to 4,624 square feet.

Recreation lovers will be in just the right spot to enjoy all of what South Austin has to offer. The 744-acre McKinney Falls State Park is just five miles away and offers opportunity for hiking, mountain biking, fishing, camping, picnicking, and more. The Onion Creek District Park is located in the neighborhood and is a great hiking destination, as it features a trail that follows Onion Creek toward McKinney Falls.

Another impressive feature of the neighborhood is the Onion Creek Club, a private golf course that’s exclusive to residents of Onion Creek. The 27-hole course winds through beautiful landscaping including towering trees and beautiful homes. Members of the Onion Creek Club can also enjoy a junior Olympic-size swimming pool, fitness center, tennis courts, and dining and meeting facilities.

Southpark Meadows, one of Austin’s newest shopping and entertainment developments, sits less than two miles away. It offers large retailers like Target, Wal-Mart, J.C. Penney, and Office Max, as well as several popular restaurants like Chili’s, Jason’s Deli, and ChickFilA. It’s also home to a large movie theater, an auto repair shop, and banks.

Children living in the neighborhood will attend schools in the Austin Independent School District. All are located within five miles of the area, and include Blazier Elementary School, Williams Elementary School, Bedichek Middle School, Paredes Middle School, and Akins High School. There are also private schools in the area, including Legacy Oaks Christian School, Austin Childrens Montessori, Primavera Montessori School, Bannockburn Christian Academy, and Montessori School.
