Kristen Hull, an 11-year-resident of Steiner Ranch, described her neighborhood as “beautiful and large, but it still has a ‘small town’ feel.” And, despite Steiner Ranch’s size, she said it is community oriented. “The three elementary schools provide some structure to our large neighborhood. Communities form within the subdivisions that attend the same elementary. Neighbors are also classmates, and you’ll see groups of parents chatting on the curb while they wait for their kids to come home.”

Homes in this idyllic hill country setting begin in the mid $200s, with some waterfront luxury homes selling for multi-millions. Though Steiner Ranch was established in the 1980s, most of the homes are more recent, and many were built within the past 10 years. Houses in Steiner Ranch, many of which are over 3,000 square feet, flaunt a California-style aesthetic with limestone, brick, or smooth stucco exteriors, and Spanish Revival architecture’s harmonious curves come alive on clay-tile roofs, cylindrical window bays, and wrought-iron window guards.

Steiner Ranch Social Committee’s spokesperson “JF” built her house in 1999 and moved in in 2000, which makes it one of the “middle aged” Steiner homes. Steiner Ranch’s lush landscape attracted her to the area, and it continues to be one of the neighborhood’s best assets. “I love all the green space. That’s probably my favorite part,” she said. As far as road construction goes, she claimed, “There is nothing cookie cutter about Steiner; we have main streets that curve with the terrain, and off of them are the secondary streets where homes are built. Nothing runs in a square or straight line.”

In addition to Steiner Ranch’s picturesque setting, it has a strong residential and commercial heartbeat. “A lot has changed in the 13.5 years we’ve been here,” JF said. “We now have three stoplights where we had none. We have more than doubled in homes; we are almost fully built out—pending some commercial property; and we have three great elementary schools, while there used to only be one. But even with all of this growth, we still have a lot of green space.”

Amenities

Steiner Ranch boasts eight private parks and contains over 800 acres of nature preserves. Near Austin’s vibrant greenbelt, Steiner Ranch provides access to 20+ miles of hike and bike trails.

The John Simpson Community Center includes a junior Olympic swimming pool; a children’s creative play area; two lighted tennis courts; a basketball court; a large covered pavilion with picnic areas; open space for Frisbee, football, baseball, and soccer; and changing, shower, and restroom facilities.

The Towne Square Community Center offers a resort-style pool with lush tropical landscaping and a beach, outdoor showers, a state-of-the-art children’s wading pool, an expansive covered pavilion, a large air conditioned club room with kitchen facilities, an on-site activities director, four tennis courts, multi-purpose fields, a playground area, restrooms, showers, and changing facilities.

The Bella Mar Community Center provides a junior Olympic pool, a resort-style pool, a splash pool, a baby pool, a playground, a soccer field, a multi-purpose ball field, a basketball/sport court, tennis courts, and a community building with covered pavilion.

Additionally, residents are granted private access to the Lake Club at Lake Austin, which has 11 boat loading areas. There are over 15 marinas and public/private docks in this area. Steiner’s proximity to Lakes Austin and Travis adds much value to Steiner Ranch real estate.

UT Golf Club

Steiner Ranch residents are near one of Austin’s great golf treasures—the UT Golf Club.
