Whole Foods Nears Completion on Two New Austin Stores
published on March 23, 2012
If Whole Foods has seemed crowded in recent months, it’s not because of narrow aisles. The Austin-based company reported record profits last month, and to try and keep up with Austin’s rapid growth and health conscious citizens, Whole Foods is hard at work preparing two new stores for Austinites to buy their organic groceries.
The Hill Country Galleria on Bee Caves Road close to the Barton Creek neighborhood will open its new Whole Foods on May 16th, and the Arbor Trails Whole Foods in Southwest Austin near Circle C is scheduled to open on June 19th. The new stores will employ 150-200 people each, creating more new jobs in the city, and making traveling to nearby stores easier.
Like all Whole Foods, the new stores will offer chef-prepared foods and meals made on site, with in-store wine and beer bars similar to the flagship store in Downtown Austin.
In case two new stores still aren’t enough to satiate the appetite of Austinites for organic and natural foods, a third new store is planned to open in the Domain shopping center in early 2013. This store will replace the Gateway Shopping Center, creating a larger space for shopping while maintaining easy access for residents of the Milwood neighborhood.
