Tacodeli “Cousin Restaurant” to Open in Lake Austin Area

Local favorite Tacodeli will open a restaurant with a new twist near Lake Austin this summer or fall, according to Austin Eater. The venue is described as a “cousin restaurant” to the popular Tacodeli venues and will be located in West Austin in the space formerly occupied by Fabi + Rosi at 509 Hearn Street, near Lake Austin Boulevard.

Austin Eater said not much is known about the new restaurant, with the details under wraps as they are finalized. While a Tacodeli trailer has been on site for other purposes, it is not expected to remain. Tacodeli has six restaurant locations in town and is frequently at farmers’ markets, pop-up events, and even special neighborhood nights, as well as being sold in limited fashion in other venues, such as its breakfast tacos at Summer Moon Coffee.

Fabi + Rosi was a longtime neighborhood favorite but closed during the Covid-19 shutdowns. Austin Eater reported the owners of Fabi + Rosi offered Tacodeli a chance to take over the lease. “We are proud to carry the restaurant torch for them and hope to honor their legacy and wishes by offering a neighborhood restaurant that complements the community,” wrote Tacodeli Co-founder Eric Wilkerson.
