Strange Brew Serves it Hot 24/7
published on October 19, 2012
South Austin’s eclectic pockets, located near neighborhoods like Circle C and Travis Country, are known for distinct Austin flavor, metaphorically and literally. Strange Brew, a coffee shop on Manchaca Road, achieves both. Locally owned and 70% locally sourced, the 24/7 coffee spot features Third Coast Coffee’s organic, fair trade espresso and coffee, Zhi Tea, and snacks from Rock Star Bagels, Quack’s 43rd Street Bakery, and Torchy’s Tacos.
Seventy percent of Strange Brews’ menu comes straight from Austin vendors, including the coffee beans, croissants, wraps, pastries, herbal teas, hot chocolate, Italian sodas, and locally brewed craft beers. Paninis developed by Torchy’s Tacos owner Mike Rypka are a customer favorite, and Strange Brew soon will start making food in-house, too, with plans to add sandwiches and breakfast tacos to the menu. Coffee options come in unique flavors developed by Strange Brew’s owner, including combinations that sound like bakery confections, such as Wedding Cake.
Strange Brew offers fast and free Wi-Fi alongside a host of electrical outlets for customers looking to browse the internet or get some work done away from home. For those not needing to get lost in a laptop’s glow, Strange Brew hosts special gatherings and entertainment from some of Austin’s most talented and interesting performers.
Strange Brew plans to expand to the Cherry Creek shopping center by 2013. If you’re also looking to expand, an Austin REALTOR can help start an Austin home search for a perfect, private coffee drinking spot.
