South Austin gets new Rehab Hospital in 2012
published on September 19, 2011
For those Austinites living south of the river, having an injury that requires rehabilitation services will soon no longer require them to hobble their way to north Austin for services and treatment. Reliant Hospital Partners of Addison, who operate a rehab hospital in Round Rock, along with JaRyCo Development, are underway with construction of a new facility.
Reliant Rehabilitation Hospital will be located at 330 W. Ben White Blvd, close to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, where it will be easily accessible to most south Austinites. The 65,000 square foot hospital will feature 60 beds and private rooms with flat-screen televisions, wood floors, personal desks, oversized showers and bathrooms, as well as wireless internet and spacious lounge areas. The facility also will offer specialized orthopedic programs for those undergoing knee or hip replacement surgery. When the hospital opens in the second quarter of 2012, it will employ 75 people and likely will expand to employing around 150 once it reaches its operating capacity.
A state-of-the-art facility like this, that focuses on both the recovery needs and the comfort of the patients, is something South Austin is definitely missing. As Austin continues to grow, the southern part of the city still manages to be the laidback, eclectic place it once was (the hospital is part of the famed Old South Austin 78704 zip code), while at the same time seeing to the 21st century needs of its residents. If you are looking for Austin homes for sale that manage to straddle both the old and new that make the area so great, you’ll want to get some help from Austin Realtor Brian Talley, who loves South Austin so much he calls it home.
