SecureNet Plans New Austin Facility

Another technology company plans to expand its base of operations in Austin in the coming year, further solidifying Austin’s growing reputation as a technology hub. SecureNet Payment Systems, a company that develops payment-processing technology, plans to establish a technology and innovation center that will create up to 200 new jobs. The type of technology created by SecureNet enables, for example, a shopper in another state to order merchandise electronically, using a smart phone, from a shop in Eanes ISD.
The new building will be located close to the Apple Inc. campus in the Riata office park. “Businesses recognize the talent pool here in town,” said Austin REALTOR Brian Talley. “There is already a wide pool of tech savvy people here, and the city is attracting more and more every day.”
The technology based jobs created by SecureNet will be in software development, network engineering, and operations for the network operations center it intends to build in Austin. The company also plans to hire new employees for customer support, technical support, and risk-management jobs. SecureNet also expects to create a client operations center in California’s Silicon Valley with aspirations to be a dominant player in the payment technology market.
The Maryland based company processed $12 billion in payments in the past year and worked with 14,000 clients including merchants, financial institutions, and credit-card processing companies. Major clients include Geico insurance and Austin’s BigCommerce. It is viewed as an emerging player in the country’s payment-processing industry, which is seeing fresh competitors arise alongside technology that supports new forms of payment, including mobile payments.
