Rodeo Austin 2013 Takes Over Texas, March 8th-23rd
published on February 15, 2013
Every March, the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo (Rodeo Austin) rolls into the beloved Capital of Texas. For two fantastic weeks, the Travis County Expo Center rocks with award-winning live music, and the grassy fairgrounds flood with families out to enjoy the amusement park, BBQ cook-off, live auctions, horse and livestock shows, bull-riding, calf scrambles, and good weather.
Rodeo Austin’s star-studded lineup of 2013 musical performances includes Dierks Bentley, the Eli Young Band, Sara Evans, Megan & Liz, Alabama Shakes, All Star Series, Josh Abbott Band, Charlie Daniels Band, Easton Corbin, Kip Moore, Merle Haggard, Restless Heart, Three Dog Night, Josh Turner, Kevin Fowler, Kyle Park with Cody Johnson, Gary Allan, and more!
“I love Rodeo Austin because it is a lot of fun, and most importantly, because its main goal is to help out kids in Central Texas with scholarship money. And because looking at cowboys all day is heaven on earth!” laughs Austinite Deanna Davis, whose home in West Austin is about 20 minutes away from the rodeo.
Founded in 1938, the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to preserving Western Heritage and promoting youth education. Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased on the website or by calling 512-477-6060.
Stephen Steakley of partner organization La Pasadita (read more about La Pasadita) volunteers hundreds of hours each March at Rodeo Austin’s BBQ Cook-Off: “This event brings us together for fun and a great cause. Team members call it ‘spring break’ for old guys! It’s that one time a year we all look forward to.”
From the annual BBQ Cook-off to the Rodeo Austin Gala, Youth Auction, Sporting Clay and Cowboy Classic Golf Tournaments, over two thousand volunteers, donors, and sponsors work together to advance Rodeo Austin’s mission by providing scholarships to deserving Texas youth. Don’t miss Rodeo Austin March 8th-23rd: It’s good Texas fun and all about the kids!
