Regent Property Group Reports Texas is a U.S. Leader in New Home Construction
published on June 29, 2012
Austin’s premier luxury real estate agency Regent Property Group reports that the latest U.S. Census data shows the state of Texas contributed to 20% of the increase in new homes between April 1, 2010, and July 1, 2011. Neighborhoods like Avery Ranch have added to the construction of new Austin homes.
Across the country, the number of new homes built during the April to July time period increased by 607,000, and Texas accounted for 121,000 of those. Texas outranks large states like California, which came in second in the number of new homes built, by building three times as many homes. Further, Census data shows that one-fifth of the 100 counties with the highest rate of growth in new housing are in Texas. Included in that last are Fort Bend, Rockwall, Hays, Wilson, Guadalupe, Williamson, Blanco and Parker, all of which landed in the top 25 in terms of growth rate.
“Austin is growing at about 6% a year,” said Regent Property Group founder Brian Talley. “The local economy, the job opportunities, and the quality of life are attracting a lot of new comers, which is proving very beneficial for both new and existing home sales.”
An Austin home search on the Regent website also can yield information about available lots, and the Texas hill country has a lot to offer in terms of proximity to employment, as well as scenic views and lakes. “A Realtor can be a key player in helping home buyers find the ideal place to build an Austin luxury home, and can refer buyers to highly regarded builders, contractors, and other services.”
Five Texas metros were added to the National Association of Home Builders/First American’s Improving Markets Index (IMI) for June, including Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Texarkana and Wichita Falls, which joined seven other Texas metros on the list. Those cities were Brownsville, Laredo, McAllen, Midland, Odessa, San Angelo and Victoria. The index identifies areas showing growth in housing permits, prices and employment for six consecutive months.
