Non-Stop Flights from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
published on July 20, 2015
It seems not a month goes by that we don’t hear about another flight being added to the options at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. ABIA has been experiencing tremendous growth in the amount of people who travel through its doors, leading to demand for more non-stop flights, a boon for commuters and pleasure travelers alike. This month, a new passenger screening checkpoint with six security lanes also opened to support the demand, as part of the Terminal East Infill Project terminal addition. What is leading to this expansion? Let’s take a look:
This May 2015 saw a new monthly passenger record with 1,022,353 people traveling through the airport. It was ABIA’s third million-plus month and its fifth monthly record in the past 14 months. Passenger traffic has grown virtually every month for over five years, and in 2014, 10.7 million passengers used the airport.
