Lick It Bite It or Both has Austinites Going Both Ways

Lick It Bite It Or Both is as unique as Austin itself, serving customers cupcake & ice cream combos that merit the cupcakery its cheeky name. The popular store, not far from northern neighborhoods like River Place and Senna Hills, also serves cookies, cakes, CupShakes, cake-burgers, and whatever other goodies the owner, Jace Robinson, and his team can think of. All of their desserts, including the ice cream, are homemade from scratch on site with quality, rich ingredients.

The bakery was established in Austin in early 2010, offering premium ice cream and gourmet cupcakes separately, or together — a new twist on the old favorite, “cake and ice cream.” The baby blue and chocolate brown color of the décor and cupcake packaging further enhance the charming theme of the bakery. Flavors of the day are displayed in glass bell jars, and testaments of happy customers are written across white cupcake liners pinned to the wall.

Informally trained, Robinson learned to bake from time spent in the kitchen with his grandmother and mother, as well as a short stint working in a Las Vegas cupcake shop. Many of the recipes, including the lemon cream cupcake, red velvet, and carrot cake, stem from family recipes. The cupcakes get a boost through gourmet ingredients like imported chocolate, all natural extracts, and premium flour. Austinites can enjoy a cupcake for $2.50 each, but it’s highly recommended to enjoy it turned upside down on a scoop of ice-cream. The bakery also makes cakes and treats for all special occasions and events.
