LCRA Invites Homeowners to Sign Up for Flood Gate Alerts

The Lower Colorado River Authority is inviting those along the Highland Lakes to sign up for alerts notifying them of flood gate operations at LCRA dams along and near the lower Colorado River.

Subscribers will receive the messages via text, email, and/or a phone call once flood operations are underway or imminent. The free Floodgate Operations Notification Service for Central Texas includes the Buchanan, Inks, Starcke, Wirtz, Mansfield, and Tom Miller dams, as well as the Bastrop Dam on Lake Bastrop, a recent addition to the alert system.

The alerts are not intended as a flood warning system, but nonetheless can be very helpful for those with property to secure along the lakes. The alerts include the initial flood operations but not changes to those operations or gate closings.
