Lake Travis’ Oasis Complex Welcomes Business Trifecta

published on May 4, 2012

oasis austinThe Oasis on Lake Travis is every bit as tranquil as its name suggests. From its generous decks, residents from Lakeway to South Austin can enjoy the transcendental peach and honey colored sunsets that have made The Oasis famous for 30 years. Now, the restaurant has added a few more benefits: more shops for locals and out-of-towners in its 30,000 square foot shopping complex. A tour of the new winery, chocolatier, and art gallery make the perfect complement to an evening at Texas’ largest restaurant.

“Our mission has been to create a village of Austin-centric shopping and dining destinations worthy of this beloved location of natural beauty,” said Robert Axelson, president of Isis Investments LP, who was a partner in the development. “These three unique businesses are a great enhancement to the current group of dining and shopping spots.”

Lakeview Winery, owned by local residents Kenny and Gail Fowler, will call The Oasis home starting May 5. In addition to five wines of their own, the Fowlers hope to add a wine fermented especially for the Oasis in the coming years. Lakeview also carries its own cold-pressed olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and cigars, which can be sampled in-house at their tasting bar.

The artisan chocolatier specializes in candy-coated nuts, nut taffies, and jelly beans, and an assortment of other confections also are available in the corner shop.

A few steps away will be the new Crawshay Gallery, home to Phil Crawshay’s arresting landscape panoramas. This gallery, which will be the artist’s second location (the flagship gallery is located in Downtown Austin), is home to vivid prints that chronicle landscapes throughout the Austin and the southwest.

Residents who have finished their Austin home search near this expanding complex have a host of new nightly activities to anticipate. The warm summer evenings spent on (and now, around) the spacious decks of The Oasis are something quintessentially Texas.
