June 12-15: Republic of Texas Biker Rally® and Parade Hits Downtown Austin

Austinites know summer has arrived when the Republic of Texas (ROT) Biker Rally® floods Austin with over 40,000 rumbling motorcycles. June 12-15, over 200,000 enthusiasts and spectators will gather to celebrate this 19^th annual event, creating enormous economic impact and revenue for the City of Austin.

“It’s Sturgis meets Woodstock,” said local promoter and Austinite Jerry Bragg. “The ROT Rally staff strives to combine the best entertainment, live music, professional attractions, specialized vendors, and celebrity guests, and all things motorcycle to ensure the Rally goers have a memorable experience year after year.”

Since the first official ROT Biker Rally® in 1995 at the Travis County Expo Center, the event has grown to become the largest rally in Texas and the fifth largest motorcycle rally in the country. This year, the Rally has extended the motorcycle experience to appeal to ALL ages. In addition to events and festivities at the Travis County Expo Center on Decker Lane, the downtown portion will offer custom bike builders, demo rides, live music, attractions, and more.

On Friday night of ROT Rally® weekend, the Austin Police Department will escort the parade of motorcycles on a 17-mile trek from the Travis Country Expo Center to a new home in downtown Austin, where over 50 square city blocks will be closed to accommodate the parade and party.

The downtown Austin portion of the festival will be located at the corner of Congress Avenue Bridge and Lady Bird Lake on the grounds of the Austin American-Statesman (305 Congress Ave, Austin, TX 78704).

“With a stellar band lineup already taking shape as well as a few other surprises,” said Bragg, “2014 is sure to be a banner year for the Rally.”

Participants can kick off ROT Biker Rally® with a beautiful Hill Country ride to Luckenbach, Texas, where “Everybody’s Somebody!” There will be free Luckenbach commemorative biker patches while supplies last, great live music (John Evans Band and Emily Bell), food, and drinks.
