Hill Country Cupcakes – a Farmer’s Market Organic Treat
published on May 11, 2012
Hill Country Cupcakes operates a little differently than most local cupcakeries. In lieu of a storefront, cupcakes are sold at the weekly Barton Creek Farmer’s Market. Owner Katie Bycura explains, “Austin’s farmer’s markets are a thriving and unique community. They are better than a permanent location, as they encourage people to shop local and serve as a one-stop shop for produce, prepared specialty foods, live music, and family-centered fun!”
A life-long Austinite, Bycura is a Westlake High School graduate, who returned from college in Washington, D.C., to become a pediatric registered nurse. Her concern for health and love for baking found their natural expression in launching a bakery with special focus on organic ingredients and recipes suited for a variety of special diets. “Our cupcakes are hand-made with fresh, high-quality and organic ingredients,” Bycura says. “We offer over 90 gourmet flavors and offer vegan, gluten-free, and other special diet cupcakes as well.”
Hill Country Cupcakes specializes in weddings and can tailor cupcakes to a bride and groom’s individual wedding celebration needs. Weddings aren’t the only reason to order Hill Country Cupcakes, though, as Bycura can bake and decorate treats for everyday celebrations, including corporate meetings, birthdays, house warming parties, showers, and celebrating the purchase of an Austin home for sale. Cupcake delivery is offered throughout the week in addition to pick-up at both the Barton Creek and Sunset Valley Farmer’s Markets every Saturday from 9am to 1pm, rain or shine.
