Graduate Programs at UT Ranked among Nation’s Best

More than 40 graduate programs at the University of Texas at Austin rank in the top 10 of U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 edition of “Best Graduate Schools,” and three programs rank number one in the United States.
The three programs named top in the nation in their respective disciplines are accounting in the McCombs School of Business, petroleum engineering in the Cockrell School of Engineering, and Latin American history in the College of Liberal Arts.
Beyond the number one rankings, some of the top ten rankings:
The College of Pharmacy ranks third in the U.S. and third among public universities.
The School of Information ranks sixth in the United States and fifth among public universities.
The School of Social Work ranks seventh nationally and fourth among public universities.
The Jackson School of Geosciences ranks eighth for Earth sciences and fourth among public universities.
Computer science ranks ninth in the U.S. and fourth among public universities.
The Cockrell School of Engineering ranks tenth in the U.S. and sixth among public universities, with six of its specializations ranking in the top 10. This includes its second-ranked program in civil engineering.
The College of Education ranks tenth in the U.S. and third among public universities, with four specialty areas also ranking in the top 10.
U.S. News & World Report’s graduate rankings are considered among the most prestigious higher education ratings and are based on surveys of academic leaders and other factors such as placement test scores, student/faculty ratios, research expenditures, and job placement success.
“Our programs provide tremendous value through the results of research and the education of innovators and leaders who will change the world for the better,” said UT President Gregory L. Fenves. “The breadth of excellence at UT Austin is validated by the high rankings of our graduate programs.”
Undergraduate rankings are in separate reports. U.S. News & World Report ranks UT Austin as the 52nd best university for undergraduates.
