Go Local Austin: Wexel Art

published on November 10, 2011

Every family knows the scenario: Little Timmy comes bounding in, fresh from another day in his Kindergarten class, his face beaming with pride as he hands over his latest masterpiece. This time it’s a picture of a T-Rex fighting a Triceratops, and at that moment it’s the most important thing he’s ever created. As a parent, all you can do is stand there, marveling at its greatness: the unique color palette, the fine stroke work, the way he almost managed to stay completely in the lines this time. You are proud, elated, and want to share your joy with the rest of the world, but when you make your way to the refrigerator, you find that there is precious little real estate to be had among all of his previous masterpieces of the moment.

So now it becomes time to choose-your-own-adventure. Do you turn to page 17 to cover up the portrait of the family dog and deal with the inevitable fallout, or do you turn to page 36 to go for the smart, logical approach – visiting the Wexel Art website for the only real solution to this dilemma? If you happen to live in Lakeway or Barton Creek, that answer is especially easy, as the Wexel Art headquarters are nearby. With their edict of “Hang once. Add art. Change often,” Little Timmy can have every one of his works of art showcased in true high-class form in a unique frame of BPA-free acrylic and brushed silver. Of course, these frames are fantastic for more than just children’s art work. They’re great for keepsakes, art, and plenty of other things.

This uniquely Austin enterprise was started by Natasha McRee and Morgan Kimble, who have found that moms especially understand the potential of their creations. They have a variety of tabletop and wall frames, ranging in price from $19.99 to $179.99 (for a mixed set) that feature unique designs. They also offer custom etching and can create frames of special shapes and sizes. Each frame is made of two pieces of BPA-free acrylic held together by powerful magnets, creating a combination that allows easy switching between works of art.

“My daughters are 4 and 1 years old, and my house is already full of their artwork. I know that as they get older, the quality and quantity of their work will increase. The only smart thing to do would be to stock up on Wexel Art frames now!” says Austin REALTOR® Brian Talley about the unique displays.

If you are looking for some great walls to hang your family’s artwork on, let Brian help you with your Austin home search. He may even draw you a picture to hang in your first Wexel frame.
