Eco-Friendly Business News: Get Glam with Northwest Austin’s Only Vegan Salon

published on February 24, 2014

Austin vegan salonWhen The Beauty Jar made itself at home in northwest Austin in the summer of 2013, it was CEO Brizy Tait’s second, and Austin’s only, vegan hair salon. Inspired by her grandfather, Tait had set out to create an affordable, eco-friendly, and vintage beauty apothecary with modern boudoir charm.

“Our trendsetting hair stylists give our clientele the hair design that they’ve always dreamed of, using natural, vegan, and conventional hair color lines free of parabens, sulfates, ammonia, and formaldehyde. Our lovely boutique has 100% natural products with organic ingredients.”

Tait was one of the first cosmetologists in Texas to receive training and become organic-certified in 2010 by organic color systems. Afterward, she founded her first vegan salon, Keep Austin Gorgeous. She has focused on authentic beauty free of chemicals, preservatives, and toxins ever since.

She succeeded. “At The Beauty Jar, we are industry-leading experts in airbrush makeup and hair design,” she said. “All of our services begin with a consultation and end with impeccable attention and care.”

A beautiful environment was equally important. It was essential to Tait that the new salon achieves a relaxed atmosphere with “an unprecedented level of luxury, fun, efficiency, and style.”

Her salons have received significant accolades, especially from brides. Tait and her team made the list for The Knot’s “Best of Weddings”, and Wedding Wire rated them amongst the top 5% of hair stylists in the nation. The team has also earned a highly-prized place amidst Austin Monthly’s “Best of Wedding Day Services”.

“Our goal is nothing short of flawless, picture-perfect beauty for every bride who asks us to be a part of her wedding,” Tait said.

Tait has earned enough accolades to hold the title of “celebrity” Austin hair stylist. “I have had the pleasure of working with very famous Latin celebrities such as Jackie Guerrido, Ana Isabel, Diana Reyes, and more. Last year in 2013, celebrity Eva Mendez visited one of my stores twice to get our famous blowouts!”

Tait also has been an educator and platform artist for Enzo Milano; performed makeup segments on TV for Univision, La Matadora Cosmetics, and chicka-d; and worked exclusively with the renowned high-end designer of Beth Ellis Bridal.

Interestingly, Tait obtained an associate’s degree in biochemistry engineering before entering the world of cosmetology. She is also the proud mother of a wonderful 5-year-old. She says it was the fusion of these passions that inspired her children’s product line, “Little Roseberry”. Made out of 100% natural & 70% organic ingredients (like broccoli, carrots, sea buckthorn, aloe, monoi oil from Tahiti, and vitamins), her products are made in the USA and never tested on animals.

Austin organic salonNext on Tait’s busy agenda is an exciting metamorphosis: the rebranding of The Beauty Jar. “In 2014, we will continue pursuing our mission to provide exceptional hair services by providing you with the very best products – certified organic, pesticide free, and paraben free. We will also introduce Salon Colour Bar.”

Salon Colour Bar will tout the same top-of-the-line, eco-friendly hair colouring options, but in the context of a fun lounge environment. Starting at only $29, clients will have colour applied by one of Tait’s professional colorists while enjoying a signature cocktail, or while receiving a professional manicure. Clients will be able to have their hair done with friends at its upcoming “Movie Nights”. The salon also will begin offering custom-blended hair colour in $19.99 take-home kits.

Involved with several local women-owned organizations that share her passion for helping children, Tait plans to donate a portion of the proceeds from the salon’s new take-home product line “Salon Colour To-Go” to charity. “What if I told you your gray hair could help children in need?” smiled Tait.

“I am so excited about Salon Colour Bar, as it is the first salon of its kind in Texas!” concluded Tait. To book an appointment, call (512) 377-1792 or visit the salon online!
