Eanes ISD Earns Exemplary Ratings for Schools and Homes

Eanes Independent School District (Eanes ISD) spans 31.2 square miles of scenic Texas Hill Country in Travis County and is perfectly situated to take advantage of everything that Austin offers. Residents in the Eanes ISD neighborhoods are typically employed throughout the city in predominant industries like government, computers, information processing, microelectronics, research and development, publishing, and higher education. The area also makes it easy to take advantage of the abundant activities offered by the city of Austin: museums, outdoor recreation, cultural arts, sports, and music events.

Eanes ISD’s boundaries include parts of Austin as well as the municipalities of Rollingwood and West Lake Hills. Some of the larger subdivisions that comprise Eanes ISD include Barton Creek West, Beecave Woods, Davenport Ranch, Lost Creek, Rob Roy, Senna Hills, and  Seven Oaks.

Not only is the Eanes Independent School District located in arguably one of the most beautiful areas in the State of Texas, which is in the heart of the hill country, but this coveted school district consistently manages to excel in academics year after year. Eanes ISD has nine schools, including six elementary schools, two middle schools, and West Lake High School. Eanes ISD is located in West Lake Hills and a portion of western Austin. The average price for a home in Eanes ISD tends to be around $700,000-$800,000 with prices ranging up into the multi-millions.

The schools, which serve approximately 7,700 students, enjoy strong support from the local community. In ratings released in August of 2011, the District and eight Eanes schools were named Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Eanes students score well above the state average on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). Also, students’ scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Test (ACT) consistently exceed the state and national averages. Approximately 98% of EISD’s graduates have gone on to attend college in recent years.

Westlake High School is a U.S. Blue Ribbon School and has won the Texas Successful Schools Award for Outstanding Performance, and its current rating by the TEA is Exemplary, the highest possible. The school is known for its successful academics, ranked 72nd in Newsweek Magazine’s 2011 list of the nation’s top high schools. The AP Physics program was recognized as the best in the world by the college board in 2005. Its sports teams are also a matter of pride, having won 26 state championships in 9 different sports.
