Eanes ISD Earns Exemplary Ratings for Schools and Homes

Eanes Independent School District (Eanes ISD) spans 31.2 square miles of scenic Texas Hill Country in Travis County and is perfectly situated to take advantage of everything that Austin offers. Residents in the Eanes ISD neighborhoods are typically employed throughout the city in predominant industries like government, computers, information processing, microelectronics, research and development, publishing, and higher education. The schools, which serve approximately 7,700 students, enjoy strong support from the local community. In ratings released in August of 2011, the District and eight Eanes schools were named Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Eanes students score well above the state average on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). Also, students’ scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and American College Test (ACT) consistently exceed the state and national averages. Approximately 98% of EISD’s graduates have gone on to attend college in recent years.
Westlake High School is a U.S. Blue Ribbon School and has won the Texas Successful Schools Award for Outstanding Performance, and its current rating by the TEA is Exemplary, the highest possible. The school is known for its successful academics, ranked 72nd in Newsweek Magazine’s 2011 list of the nation’s top high schools. The AP Physics program was recognized as the best in the world by the college board in 2005. Its sports teams are also a matter of pride, having won 26 state championships in 9 different sports.
