Dell World Inspires Innovation Among Entrepreneurs

published on October 26, 2011

The Austin Convention Center hosted the first annual Dell World event October 12 -14, 2011. The event hosted a number of IT experts and the CEO of Dell, Michael Dell. Other speakers included Steve Balimer, CEO Microsoft; Paul Otellini, President and CEO, Intel; and Stephen Felice, President, Consumer, Small & Medium Business, Dell. The theme of the event, “Unlocking Innovation in the Virtual Era,” allowed for IT specialists to speak about expanding the ways technology is used in the workplace.

Technology has become a driving force behind successful business, and the major goal of the Dell World event was to give participants up-close access to the scenes behind Dell and the many projects going on there for improved insight into emerging technology enhancements. The majority of the conference revolved around the links between business and IT, as the millennial generation – who’ve never been without internet access – are entering the workforce.

The successful event was sold out within a number of weeks, and Downtown Austin was packed with small business owners, IT professionals, and businesses looking to expand their sources of innovation in terms of how they use technology. The number of attendees was kept under 2000 in order to ensure an intimate experience in which many attendees were able to meet Michael Dell face-to-face to ask questions about not only the future of Dell and its technology, but the importance of linking technology and business.

The event also included an attendee-only Austin City Limits Live concert at the Moody Theater with Austin greats Marcia Ball, Los Lonely Boys, and Pat Green.
