Austin’s PromiseLand West Church Builds $25 million Campus

published on December 6, 2011

Austin’s Promiseland West Church has been renting space from Westlake High School for the past six years in the heart of the Austin Luxury Home neighborhood of Westlake. After being awarded an $8.1 million loan from Branch Banking and Trust Co., Promiseland West now has broken ground on its new campus in Southwest Austin.

The church was founded in 2005 with just 40 members and has grown to a congregation of 1,200 who currently meet in Westlake High’s Performing Arts Center. “In 2007, we took our first steps in building our future home campus,” reads the Promiseland West’s website. “The church purchased 68 acres with frontage on Highway 71 in west Austin. For this gently rolling hill country terrain, we have developed a master plan to create a community resource, not just a church home.”

The initial stages of building will include a 1,000-seat indoor auditorium for worship, a 1,500-seat amphitheater, and hike-and-bike trails that will receive design assistance from Paul Carrozza, CEO of RunTex. The hike-and-bike trails will be open to the public when completed. The plans for the outdoor facility include hosting ballets, family movie nights, graduations, and school plays, including for schools in areas such as Lake Travis and Oak Hill.

The goal of the Promiseland West’s new space is to “create a true community sense of place.” For more information on Promiseland West’s “Dream City” project, check out the church’s Dream City page.
