Austin’s Fastest Growing New Construction Neighborhoods

Austin new home constructionThe Austin Business Journal, in partnership with information from Metrostudy Inc., released a list of the fastest growing new construction neighborhoods in the Greater Austin area, with results including neighborhoods in Travis, Williamson, Hays, Bastrop, and Caldwell counties. As reported by the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, the results track one year of activity from 1Q 2016 through 4Q 2016 and are based on housing starts, when foundations are poured.

Here are the fastest growing neighborhoods in the Austin area for 2016:

With 426 home starts, Siena at Highway 79 and SH 130 was the fastest growing new construction neighborhood in the Greater Austin area. Homes range from $212k to $380k. With 313 new home starts, Sun City Texas by Del Webb was the second fastest growing. Homes in this retirement community located at I-35 and FM 2338 range in price from $209k to $361k. Teravista, at I-35 and FM 1431 ranked third, with 244 new home starts. Prices range from $228k to $720k.

Avalon was fourth fastest growing. With 226 new home starts, this neighborhood at SH-45, SH-130, and Kelly Lane, features homes ranging in price from $225k to $416k. Paloma Lake rounded out the top five, with 224 new home starts at this I-35, University Boulevard, and SH-130 neighborhood. Prices range from $254k to $407k.

Rounding out the top ten fastest growing neighborhoods were Sonterra, Shadow Creek, Crystal Falls, Blackhawk, and Presidential Meadows.

Surveyors for Metrostudy physically inspected each lot every 90 days. Another Metrostudy report showed that, nationally, housing starts were up 9.2 percent in March 2017 over March 2016. Visit metrostudy.com for more information.
