Austin Texas Neighborhood Ridge At Lantana Featured In New Robert Rodriguez Movie Called Shorts!
published on June 13, 2008
It was quite a surprise to see Robert Rodriguez and his car parked in front of my house on Monday. He was in the midst of filming his newest movie called Shorts, a family film about a rock that grants wishes to those in possession of its powers. The result is a small town called Black Falls getting turned upside down. This new movie stars James Spader, Leslie Mann, William H. Macy, and John Cryer, all of whom were on-site at the Ridge at Lantana for filming at one point or another throughout the last month.
Several homes for sale in Lantana were used as a set for the movie. Most of the homes in Lantana were built within the last three years, so they are in pristine condition. Many of the homes were built with a limestone exterior or a limestone and brick mix. The inside of these homes include rounded corners, tile and carpet floors, modern accessories, and lots of space – a perfect setting for this new movie.
From what I saw, the movie taps into a creative and imaginative script. The movie should include a group of 10-12 main cast members including several children and those actors mentioned above. Some animation and special effects will be included in the movie, but much of this will be used for the abnormal and imaginative events surrounding the wishes being granted by the rock.
Since I’m an Austin Realtor with Regent Property Group, I’m inclined to mention that the decision by Robert Rodriguez to film his new movie Shorts in the Ridge at Lantana neighborhood is a testament to the quality of the neighborhood. With homes ranging in size from 2000-5000 square feet, we have top-of-the-line homes in this newly constructed neighborhood. Aesthetically, the homes have similar features with lots of native limestone and some have brick. The houses are located on the side of a hill and therefore offer many residents a nice view of the Austin hill country. Located just adjacent to the neighborhood is the new AMD campus, which is a state of the art $200M headquarters for this chip design company. There is a lot of green space surrounding the Lantana neighborhood due to area development restrictions. While the Ridge at Lantana seems to be located in a world of its own, it is actually a short 20 minute drive to downtown Austin and just a few minutes away from the grocery store and lots of retail. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out and are looking to buy a home, give me a call and I’d be happy to setup a tour of one or more of the 18 homes available for sale.
