Austin Board of Realtors Has Eyes on a New Home: 4800 Spicewood Springs Dr.

published on September 17, 2013

Austin board of realtorsNine long years ago, the Austin Board of Realtors (ABoR) sold its facility on Medical Parkway to finance the eventual construction of a new headquarters. Thus the ripple of excitement amongst its 9,000 Central Texas members September fourth when Chairman Cathy Coneway finally announced ABoR’s plans for a brand new 33,000-square-foot facility at 4800 Spicewood Springs Road.

The current lease is ending shortly. “It’s time to buy,” said Jay Gohil, Chair of the task force commissioned by the Board of Directors to explore options for the facility over the past year. “ABoR is in the business of advocating for property ownership, so it’s only natural that our association be a property owner, too!”

Chosen for its central Austin location, ABoR’s new home will offer plenty of parking, an extended outdoor terrace, sweeping views, and video-technology-equipped classrooms for its membership. There will even be a green room for the creation of instructional videos.

Coneway said members in route to homes from Travis Country to Davenport Ranch will now have a place to “network with peers and recharge themselves and their mobile devices. ABoR’s members are technologically savvy and highly mobile. Our new building will be dedicated to giving them the member services they expect along with the technology and educational resources they need to serve consumers.”

Plans include three auditoriums, a computer room, various conference rooms, a lounge for members, plus a client closing room. This LEED-certified building was designed to generate non-dues revenue on the weekends, when it will serve an additional function as an Austin-area event center.

“We’re thrilled to announce the plans for our new facility,” she said. “The new ABoR facility will mirror the values that Austin holds dear—sustainable design, superior technology, and the beauty of Austin’s hill country. It’s a perfect reflection of the culture of Austin and our association.”

The Austin Board of Realtors plans to move into its new headquarters in winter 2014. Additional details about ABoR’s new building will be showcased at the annual Realty Round Up trade show on October sixteenth!
