ATX: Jeff Foxworthy’s RedFest Hits Circuit of the Americas May 2014

published on January 20, 2014

Redfest AustinAustin’s Circuit of The Americas will host comedian Jeff Foxworthy’s RedFest 2014 this May: a three-day festival revolving around “redneck”-themed comedy, reality TV stars, and outdoor activities from archery to tractor rides. “To make RedFest really rock, we had to find the coolest place in America to serve as our host city, and right now Austin is the place to be,” said Foxworthy. Fondly called a Blue Collar Comedian, he will perform throughout the festival, in addition to reality TV superstar Larry the Cable Guy and Rodney Carrington. Duck Dynasty’s Phil and Alan also will grace the stage with a Sunday sermon.

“I know what y’all are thinking; that I’m calling this party RedFest because of the tie in with all the redneck jokes I have made over the years … but what I wanted for this party is a celebration that would be for anyone and everyone,” said Foxworthy. “This is no ordinary festival. RedFest goes far beyond just music and comedy, giving guests a long list of surprises and unique outdoor activities to participate in.”

Themed villages spread across the festival site will feature three days of sports, comedy, food and drink, music, rides, and fun. Activities will include dancing, chili cook-offs, go kart racing, a zipline, hunting, fishing and more. As far as music entertainment, RedFest will offer a diverse lineup from the biggest names in country music to rock classics, Americana, and Jam bands: Tim McGraw, Florida Georgia Line, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Kellie Pickler, to name a few.

Austin RedFest“Another thing you should know about the name is that I wanted a patriotic feel to this festival. I wanted a celebration of our great RED, White and Blue. This Festival is about celebrating real, authentic people who are at the true roots of what makes us great,” continued Foxworthy. “That’s why it was so important to me to tie in military based charities and honor those folks that have lived in the service of others, because those folks embody the qualities of what makes America great.”

Circuit of the Americas is located in southeast Austin at 9201 Circuit of the Americas Blvd. Coming from north Austin homes like those in Avery Ranch, the drive is about 40 minutes. For festival-goers coming from southwest Austin homes in Belterra or west Austin homes in Lost Creek, the drive is around 30 minutes.

The RedFest festival runs May 23rd through 25th in 2014. Three-day passes are $29 for kids 12 and under and $99 for adults. Three-day passes including reserved seats (for the music and comedy events in the Austin360 Amphitheatre) start at $250, and parking passes start at $30. VIP passes, VIP suites, and premium parking passes also are available.

“So when you wrap all that up it I think it’s pretty clear. I’m throwing a party like none other to celebrate all we love to do outdoors, and to celebrate American heroes, so yeah the way I see it, I’m throwing a REDFEST,” finished Foxworthy.
