Established in the 1990’s, Sendera is composed of over 800 homes in three lovely subdivisions: The Glen, The Place, and The Oaks. Most homes were built between 1995 and 2004. Neighborhood Location

The neighborhood of Sendera is located in South Austin (see Austin homes for sale) in 78749 (see 78749 homes for sale). Its MLS Map Locations are SWE and 10S. Sendera’s proximity to Mo-Pac (Loop 1) makes it ideal for commuters. The commute to downtown Austin from Sendera is just 8 miles and takes approximately 15 minutes. Sendera is 11 miles from the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Part of the larger Oak Hill area, the Sendera subdivision centers around east-west corridor Davis Lane. It stretches from Maple Run Neighborhood to the north to Slaughter Lane to the south. The neighborhood is bordered to the west by Sendera Mesa Drive (and the Deer Park neighborhood) and to the east by Corran Ferry Road (and Deer Haven neighborhood). The main N-S thoroughfare through Sendera is Copano Drive. As far as access from major highways, Sendera can be reached by South Mo-Pac Expressway to the west, 290 W/Ben White Blvd. to the north, and IH 35 to the east.

Sendera Amenities

In Sendera, residents have access to a multitude of amenities from a resident-only, 6-lane community pool and kiddie pool (with pergola) to an oak-tree shaded new playground with barbecue and picnic areas. For the fitness-oriented, small, medium, and large gyms abound in South Austin within three miles of Sendera (Planet Fitness, Gold’s Gym, Lifetime Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness). Golfers can "play a round" at the nearby Grey Rock Golf Club on the south side of Circle C Ranch, or at one of the City of Austin courses (Jimmy Clay or Roy Kizer).

Parks

The following beautiful parks and preserves are located within minutes of Sendera:

Karst Nature Preserve (.6 miles E), which includes Goat Cave, protects part of the underground water system and cave network known as Edward’s Aquifer. Interested in learning more about the aquifer system? Karst Preserve offers Cave Day each year in mid-March!

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (1.4 miles SW) is a great spot to visit, with 16 themed gardens including a butterfly garden and children’s garden.

The Veloway Trail (1.1 miles SW) is Austin’s first non-pedestrian trail exclusively for bicycles and rollerblading. It is a 3.1-mile paved asphalt loop located on more than 100 acres of scenic preserve. Twenty-three feet wide, the Veloway can be accessed from Mo-Pac (about a mile south of Slaughter Lane) or from Bowie High School on Slaughter Rd. during non-school hours.

Dick Nichols District Park (1.1 miles N) is a gorgeous 152-acre park with nine barbecue pits, three volleyball courts, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, a playground, a water-play area, a multipurpose field, 17 picnic tables, a picnic shelter, and over a mile of trial for hiking and biking.

Circle C Ranch Metropolitan Park (1.7 miles W) - At 545 acres, this is a very large park off Slaughter Lane. It has picnic tables, 21 disc golf baskets, seven soccer fields, two basketball and volleyball courts, a multipurpose field, six miles of walking trails, and a playground for the kiddos.

Longview Park (1.9 miles E) spans 20 acres and is home to a picnic area with barbeque pits, a playground, basketball courts, a multipurpose field, and a short hiking trail.

Garrison Park (3.6 miles E) sits along Manchaca Road and is another popular gathering spot, with baseball and softball fields, several picnic areas, a swimming pool, and more.

Other nearby parks include Deer Park at Maple Run Preserve, Silk Oaks Park, Tanglewood Forest, Western Oaks Park and Playground, Legend Oaks Park, Indian Grass Prairie Preserve, Shady Hollow West Nature Preserve, and Stephenson Preserve Trailhead.

Shopping

Sendera is located within miles of several shopping complexes, each with a wide selection of stores. Residents will find themselves within minutes of all the conveniences they’ll need, including grocery stores!

The relatively new Escarpment Village is two miles away on Escarpment Boulevard and Slaughter Lane. The shopping center is filled with upscale retail stores, several dining venues, and other conveniences like a bank, hair salon, and H.E.B. grocery store.

The Shops at Arbor Trails is a new shopping center close-by at William Cannon and Mo-Pac. The site contains a brand new Whole Foods Market, as well as a Costco, Staples, and dozens of popular small shops and restaurants. It also boasts a forested, gravel-covered walking trail and a beautiful new playground!

The Westgate Shopping Center lies to the north of the neighborhood and is home to several dining venues and retail locations. Popular spots include Regal Cinemas, Whole Earth Provision Co., Progress Coffee, Amy’s Ice Cream, Treehouse, and Central Market. The center also has Café Monet for family fun and the very popular yoga studio, Yoga Yoga.

A few miles to the East of Sendera is Stassney Heights Shopping Central, which offers restaurants like Logan’s Roadhouse, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Chili’s, Twin Peaks Restaurant, Texas Land & Cattle, and Chipotle, as well as a Lowe’s and a Fiesta Mart. Around the corner is a Trudy’s, the Regal Metropolitan Theatre, and Umi’s Sushi.

Residents of Sendera have additional shopping opportunities at centers along Brodie Lane (Brodie Plaza), Slaughter Ln.
