What Types of Restaurants are Nearby?

Downtown has a wide range of restaurants with an emphasis on regional flavors. Local favorites include the Texas Chili Parlor, El Mercado Mexican Restaurant and the Old Pecan Street Cafe. The downtown district also boasts high-end fare from establishments such as Eddie V’s Edgewater Grill, Fogo de Chao and Max’s Wine Dive. For the more adventurous of foodies, there’s the Clay Pit (Indian), Asther’s Ethiopian Restaurant, and the Boiling Pot (Cajun).

Where Can I Workout?

Downtown Austin currently has a Gold’s Gym on West 6th near Congress, as well as Pure Austin Fitness and Mecca Gym on West 5th near Lamar, and a YMCA near Lady Bird Lake. If you feel like crossing the river, there’s also the South Congress Athletic Club and South Austin Gym just a short distance away.

However, living downtown allows access to Austin’s amazing Barton Creek Greenbelt. The greenbelt begins near Zilker Park and continues 7.9 miles into southwest Austin, encompassing over 800 acres of hiking trails and natural swimming areas.

How Long is the Drive to the Airport?

Under normal traffic conditions, it should take about 15 minutes to reach Austin Bergstrom International Airport. Under the heaviest of Austin traffic, it should take no more than 35 min.
