Austin home prices all-time highAustin-area home inventory increased from a 2.3 month supply to a 2.6 month supply this April to May 2014, the first time listings have increased in over three years, according to a Multiple Listing Service (MLS) report released by the Austin Board of REALTORS®. May’s 2.6 months of inventory is the highest level since last September, and the consistently tight availability of listings has put upward pressure on prices and led to increased competition among buyers.

While the loosening of inventory eases this pressure, the supply is still .1 months less than at this time last year and significantly less than what is considered a “balanced” real estate market – a 6.5 month supply. (Housing inventory is the number of active listings divided by the average

The most difficult part of residential real estate is getting business. When I speak of consistency I’m speaking of consistency in providing superior customer service and consistency with marketing. And I’m not talking about consistency for a few months or years. I’m talking about consistently marketing and doing a great job for your customers month-after-month, year-after-year, non-stop until you retire.

You will find a variety of personalities within a group of top producers but they will all have one thing in

Realtor taking initiativeWhile most of us REALTORS(R) would like to have real estate business fall in our lap, there are few real estate agents that have that luxury without significant tenure in the business, an exceptional reputation, and years of hard work. Top realtors “create" opportunity leading to success. It’s called initiative. They don’t wait for others to motivate them to take action - they take action on their own knowing they will not reach their full potential otherwise. They know that those willing to take on challenging tasks and take the extra effort to get ahead will succeed.

Taking initiative takes many forms such as taking educational courses, volunteering, holding open houses, passing out flyers to your neighborhood, sending a monthly email to your

Top 10 ways REALTORS® can make Austin, TX proud

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2014 at 3:11pm. 1,777 Views

Austin Realtors Working Together
  1. Don't be weird. Keep Austin weird doesn't mean you have to be unprofessional. Be reliable, ethical and respectful. If you tell another REALTOR® or customer that you will do something, then be sure to do it. If you can’t get it done, then own up to your mistake and apologize. Remember the story of the boy who cried wolf? Help other agents learn from the best - yourself - and help make Austin's REALTOR® culture a desirable one for everyone.
  2. Set a high standard. Poor effort, training and education produce poor results. But don't expect others to make you great. You must take the initiative and hold yourself to high standards.
  3. Pay attention to details. REALTORS® tend to have big personalities and a short attention span. The devil is in the details so
